Kirsten Adams, MSW, LCSW has been part of the team of clinicians at Bergen Family Therapy for almost five years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Queens College and a Master’s degree in social work from Fordham University. Kirsten is a certified school social worker and has training in infant mental health, play therapy, crisis management, grief and bereavement, psychoanalysis and couples therapy. In addition, she is a certified yoga instructor, with specialized training in therapeutic, restorative and children’s yoga. This training has been helpful in providing additional strategies to patients coping with the difficulties associated with anxiety, depression, attention difficulties, somatic complaints and terminal illness.

Kirsten provides compassionate and supportive therapy integrated with the latest brain research to children, adolescents, adults and families. Her passion for working with children and their families began while interning at Hackensack University Medical Center, where she worked in the departments of Pediatric Neurology and Gastroenterology.

Kirsten has also provided therapeutic services to patients and their families in hospice settings, substance abuse clinics, schools, agencies and private practice. She addresses challenges related to mood, anxiety, bereavement, trauma, temperament, affect regulation and parenting.

Kirsten has been chosen as one of New Jersey’s “Top Kids” Doctors in New Jersey Family Magazine for 2013, 2014 and 2015.
